BTW, Khun Schumi, how old is your baby?
First stop, I'm not a doctor so pls bear in mind on this!
I just read something interesting on the web and

to share. Please use your consideration and consult your pediatrician (kid doctor) for more info if you're not sure on anything.
I think thumb sucking and pacifier (จุกนม) habit and affinity to things

clothes, favorite doll, pillow are sort of psychology in way for kid to feel safe and secure, particularly when they are tired or sleepy.
For mouth habit, please read the position of American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry - AAPD (dentist that specialized in kid) at the following link,
Thumb, Finger and Pacifier HabitsIt said the following:
This type of sucking (fingers, pacifiers or other objects) is completely normal for babies and young children. It provides security. For young babies, it's a way to make contact with and learn about the world. In fact, babies begin to suck on their fingers or thumbs even before they are born.
...Most children stop sucking on thumbs, pacifiers or other objects on their own between two and four years of age. No harm is done to their teeth or jaws...
...Thumb, finger and pacifier sucking all affect the teeth essentially the same way. However, a pacifier habit is often easier to break.
I guess, all in all, don't worry about the habit until 2-4 years old which, I believe, peer pressure may force them to stop doing it.
I think บรเพ็ด is too cruel, particularly at this young age, I guess 10 months?
If needed, I believe pediatric dentist (dentist specialized in kid) will help you out. BTW, the ideal situation is to take baby to see dentist by 1 year old or when the first teeth comes out, whatever is earlier. I think in Thailand they relax this rule a bit to by 2 years old.
Keep the teeth clean by using cotton cloth or, the best, kid brush to clean it "without" toothpaste once a day...
Happy parenting krub...
