Nikon has today released the new firmware (Version 2.0), announced about a month ago, for the Nikon D70 Digital SLR camera.

New functions include: Improved autofocus to equal D70s, easier to read menu system, and in camera page setup to support PictBridge direct printing.

To download the new Nikon D70 firmware Version 2.0, we recommend visiting the Nikon Tech Support Centre for your specific country or region.

The basic steps to update the firmware are:

:D Download and expand the firmware files

:D Format an approved CF card in the camera (do not use a Microdrive card to perform this update)

:D Connect Camera to computer (in MSC USB mode) or use a CF Card Reader (do not use a Lexar Jump Shot USB cable to perform this update)

:D Copy to the top level of the card the downloaded "A firmware" file

 :D Disconnect camera from computer

:D Update the firmware from the "Setup" menu

 :D Follow the camera's on-screen menus

:D Repeat steps 2 through 7 using the "B Firmware"

 :D Re-format Card

For the complete step-by-step installation process read the instructions below.

The D70 has two sets of firmware, A and B, which must be updated separately. After updating the A firmware, repeat steps 4-5, below, to upgrade the B firmware.

Important

The D70 may be damaged if power is interrupted or camera controls are operated during the update. Do not turn the camera off, remove or disconnect the power source, or operate camera controls during the update. If the update is not completed successfully and the camera becomes inoperable, take the D70 to a Nikon-authorized service representative for inspection.

I just upgraded my D70 to v2.0 of the firmware. Mai yak (not too hard) na krup. Just be sure the battery is full. You will have to do the upgrade twice since the D70 stores Firmware A and B. The new menu looks alittle better than the older version. I have the D70 for about six months now and really like it. I bought it as a kit with the zoom lense in the US. The price have dropped since the D70s is comming out. Dee jai te the D70 and the lense is made in Thailand. I see alot of people here using them.
